IMU University was established in 1992 and is a fully private university with a dedicated focus on medicine, health sciences and complementary medicine programmes. The school has an international reputation and provides high standards of medical education for students.
Situated in Bukit Jalil, the campus has various programmes such as Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Nutrition. The campus offers a dynamic and interactive environment featuring many facilities, including collaborative study areas, a dental simulation lab, a nutrition and dietetics lab and a Medical Museum. Clinical schools offering some of these facilities have also been set up in Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Batu Pahat and Kluang.
A key feature of IMU University is its strong global network of more than 42 partner institutions of higher learning around the world (e.g. Australia, New Zealand, US, UK). This provides students with both education and training opportunities overseas through credit transfer and twinning programmes.
IMU University also integrates education with research and healthcare practice, exposing students to research projects with the established IMU Institute for Research, Development & Innovation (IRDI) throughout their degree. Partnerships with leading hospitals in Malaysia also allow staff and students to experience real-life clinical work.
IMU University’s research laboratory received accreditation in 2014 and was officially under the International Standard ISO/IEC. IMU University is rated ‘Berdaya Saing (Competitive)’ in the latest SETARA rating. In 2017, it was also the first and only private Malaysian medical university to receive the self-accreditation status from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Situated in the Bukit Jalil township, IMU University is only 15 minutes away from the city centre and is within close proximity to major shopping malls like Sunway Pyramid, The Mines and IOI Mall. Easy access to the Sri Petaling LRT station also connects you to major transportation networks in the city. The campus is also located close to many amenities like cafes, restaurants, supermarkets and convenience stores for the ease of students. For a dose of nature, the nearby hilly reserve park, Bukit Komanwel, is a great place to unwind and recharge.
There’s also a golf and country resort nearby the campus, plus a national stadium that houses many major sports competitions and concert shows.
